Inauguration of “The Institution of Engineers – Students Chapter” (30.06.2022)

The Department of Civil Engineering, School of Infrastructure of B.S Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology inaugurated the Student Chapter of Institution of Engineers (India) on 30th June 2022. The Inaugural function was presided over by Dr. T. M. Gunaraja, FIE, Former President, Institution of Engineers (India). He briefed the gathering about the significance of IEI, its achievements, and encouraged the students to apply for project funding, by highlighting the funds which are awarded for the best projects and best research proposals. Dr. N. Raja Hussain, Registrar of introduced the office bearers of Students Chapter of IEI and motivated them to organize various events effectively in the upcoming days. Dr. D. Elango, FIE, Council Member & Chairman, IEI – Kanchipuram Local Centre informed the students regarding the benefits of becoming a member and motivated students to participate and organize events like seminars, guest lectures, conferences and webinars. Dr. M.S. Haji Sheik Mohammed, Professor & Dean, Academic Affairs offered his felicitations and appraised the importance of having a Students’ Chapter. Dr. Vasanthi Padmanabhan, FIE, Professor & Dean, School of Infrastructure, assured the Chief guest that the Student Chapter will be kept active in forthcoming days.

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering organized Project Exhibition on 23.06.2022 through gmeet online mode for final year students from other institution, 20 teams participated in the events from different organizations like KONGU ENGINEERING COLLEGE,, EASWARI ENGINEERING COLLEGE,St. JOSEPH’S COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING ,Hindustan institute of technology and science ,Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr.Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology and Jerusalem College of Engineering. Each team presented their project work they done in final year of their study. The teams are evaluated by Dr.S.Jennathu Beevi, Mr. S.Suresh,Mrs.V.Bharanigha, Dr.K.Shafeeque Ahmed and Dr.R.Zahira Three best teams were chosen and given with cash prize and certificates.

The School of Mechanical Science in association with SMS club and Society of Mechanical Engineers organised a technical competition for the Higher Secondary school students to motivate and attract them towards Engineering. The competition also enable school students to get contact with Engineering students and plan for their future studies.

The event MEGA Young Talent Search 2022 was conducted online during February to June May 2022. The program was planned, prepared and inaugurated under the leadership of Dr. S. Rasool Mohideen, Dean, School of Mechanical Sciences. Dr. H.Siddhi Jailani, Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering motivated and guided the faculty and students. Dr. A Arockia Julias, Senior Assistant Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering led the student organisers of each events. The overall student co-ordinators for the competition are Mr. Kulothungan, from Polymer Department, Mr. Sridhar from Aerospace Department and Mr. Mohammed Suhail from Mechanical Department. Faculties and students from all the four departments of the school are also involved in organising the event.

Department of Civil Engineering, School of Infrastructure organized two day “International Conference on Recent Advances in Sustainable Construction Technologies and Environment (ICRASCE-2022)” during 15.06.2022 & 16.06.2022 at B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology in virtual mode. More than 100 papers in 6 major streams such as Construction Technology and Building Materials, Transportation Engineering, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Water Resource Management, Geotechnical Engineering, Advanced Surveying and Remote sensing & GIS were presented during the conference.

The Department of Electronics and Instrumentation organized a webinar on “Significance of Engineering Education in the Modern world” on 04.06.2022 (10 AM to 11 AM) via Google Meet. Dr.A.Abudhahir, Professor (EIE),Director(IQAC) of BSA Crescent Institute of Science and Technology delivered the lecture.

Department of Computer Applications, School of Computer, Information and Mathematical Sciences, has organized One Day Workshop on Career Guidance “UPSKILL YOUR ABILITY TO MEET YOUR CAREER DESTINY” on 03rd June 2022, from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm in Seminar Hall-1. The main objective of this webinar is to create awareness among students about their Career and available opportunities. Final year UG Students were the prime participants for the workshop.

Dr. S. Pakkir Mohideen, HoD/CA delivered welcome address, followed by Felicitation address by Dr. Sheik Abdul Khader, Senior Professor/CA. Dr.Rhymend, Director CDOE enlighted the participants about online education in crescent.

The Resource Person of the webinar Mr.Tameem Saeed, Director- Fortran Cirkit, gave a brief presentation on employment opportunities, various avenues for the placement, significance of higher studies etc., He also explored about the various skill-set required for the placement.

The Department of Civil Engineering, School of Infrastructure have organised National Level Technical Symposium “CIVICLAN 2022” on 02.06.2022. The Chief Guest, Dr.Colonel P.Nallathambi Ph.D (Structural Engg.)/Principal Structural Consultant, Sakthi Consultancy Private Limited, Chennai inaugurated the event. Around 180 students from various institute nation wide participated in the symposium. Both technical and non-technical events such as paper presentation, quiz, mock interview and connections were conducted.

Department of Polymer Engineering organized National Level Technical Symposium, “MACRON 2022” on 01.06.2022. Dr.Raja Hussain, Additional Registrar over the event. Student Magazine “POLYLINKS 2k22” was released by our chief guest. He delivered a talk on Advance Polymeric Nanomaterials and placement opportunities in various sectors. Students from various colleges participated in various events. Paper presentation, Poster presentation, Technical Quiz and Photography events were conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners.

National Level Technical Symposium, “MACRON 2022” was organized by Department of Polymer Engineering on 01.06.2022 and was published in Dinamani Newspaper.

A guest lecture on Air Conditioning System Overview – Types & Trends was organized by ISHRAE – Department of Mechanical Engineering, BSA Crescent Institute of Science and Technology. The presentation was delivered by Mr. S. Subramania Raja, Enmac Systems Pvt. Ltd, Chennai. 22 students from the Mechanical Engineering department and faculty members participated in the Guest lecture. Dr. S. Rasool Mohideen, Dean School of Mechanical sciences and Dr. H. Siddi Jailani, Head of the Department felicitated the speaker and his team.

Dr.Revathi Purushothaman, Chairperson and Dr.J.Shahitha Parveen , Convenor convened the conference session for under Theme 11- Ecological and Environmental Science Research during Indian Social Science Congress held between 28th March and 1st April 2022. Dr. Rana Pratap Singh, outstation chairman chaired the session. Scholars and faculty members from various parts of India participated and presented research papers.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has been organizing technical symposium every year to develop the leadership and team working skills of the students. The competition also inspires students to be active and involved in the academic and cocurricular activities. The symposium was funded by the institution. Sponsorships were also received from companies collaborated with us.

This year’s symposium MECHA RUSH 2022 was conducted on 26th May 2022. Chief Guest for the function, Mr. D. Janarthanan, Sr. Engg. Manager, L&T Ltd. attended the inaugural function and delivered the inaugural address. Dr. N. Raja Hussain, Additional Registrar delivered the presidential address. Dr. H. Department of Civil Engineering organized a webinar on “Green Built Environment – need of the hour” for the M.Tech. Structural Engineering students on May 26th, 2022 from 10.00 am to 11.00 am. Dr C. Velan, City Head – Chennai Operations & Pan India Head for Property Management at Ascendas India (Capitaland India) addressed the gathering. Students of M.Tech. Structural Engineering participated and got an exposure related to the importance of green buildings and cost benefits of green buildings.

The Department of Management Studies organized Guest lecture for 1st year MBA students on 24th May 2022 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Mr.Peter Sahayaraj, CEO of Build HQ, Chennai delivered lecture on “Bridging the gap – Industry 4.0 Reality” and Mr.R.Selvam, Partner of Thorne VentureTech & Tools Plast LLP delivered a lecture on “Challenges of Entrepreneurs in the Technology Era”. The guest lecture was convened by Dr.K.Srinivasan, Dean – Crescent School of Business (CSB) and Dr.M.Shanmugam, Head of the Department, Department of Management Studies (DoMS) and organized by Dr. H. Moideen Batcha (Asst.Prof) and Dr.Joseph Mary Rahila (Asst.Prof) from Department of Management studies.

School of Infrastructure, Office of Students Affairs, and Crescent Rotract Club jointly organized an online webinar on “Impact of Solid Waste Management & Positive Effects of Source Segregation on an Individual & Community” by ‘MS. Ann Alexia Anra’ Sustainable Consultant, M/S Wasted 360 Solutions on 18.05.2022 at 2.30 P.M. Ann Alexia Anra shared her experience of recycling tetra packs, plastic waste, and cart board wastes into useful by-products like chairs, storage containers, tables, desks and chairs etc. She explained about the training given to local people to collect, segregate, process, and manufacture the chairs and storage boxes from the waste plastics and tetra pack threw in the dustbin and garbage. She presented on how to make home decorative products from the reused clothes and disposed waste clothes.

Department of Polymer Engineering organized a guest lecture on “Fibre Reinforced Polymer Composites (An Emerging Alternative material for Structural Application)” by Dr.Rajesh Kumar Prusty, FRP Composite Lab, Department of Metallurgic and Materials Engineering on 17.05.2022

Three days hand on workshop on Autonomous Vehicle was organized by the Department of Automobile Engineering, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology in association with M/s. Tech Trunk Ventures Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad on 17-19 th of May 2022. The workshop was inaugurated by the honorable Registrar, along with the Dean (School of Mechanical Sciences) and the Head of the department of Automobile Engineering, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology. Trainer Mr. Pranay has given a few minutes talk about his experience on the autonomous vehicle. More than 50 participants were registered for the workshop and this event marks a significant opportunity for the automobile engineers to have an enriching experience about self-driving car. It also encompasses the deliverables and opportunities for the engineers from different branches to a next level in the automotive domain. This event provides great application of Robotics & Artificial Intelligence technology with endless possibilities to create priceless experiences for the Engineers. The inauguration was completed with vote of thanks by the workshop coordinator Dr. C. K. Arvinda Pandian.

Department of Polymer Engineering organized Technical Symposium for Diploma Students on 13.05.2022. Dr.A.Azad, Registrar presided over the event. A National level technical symposium “CYGNUS 2022” was conducted by the Society of Electrical and Electronics Engineers of B.S.Abdur Rahman Crescent institute of science and technology on 12.5.2022 (Thursday). Er.A.A.Sadagopan,FormerMember Generation, TANGEDCO, was the chief guest for the symposium. He delivered a keynote lecture on the topic “Electric power system flexibility challenges and opportunities”. Various events like Project expo, Technical Quiz, Technical debate are conducted as a part of CYGNUS’22.

Department of Civil Engineering, School of Infrastructure have organized a “2-day workshop on GIS Software” on 6th & 7th May 2022 exclusively for Diploma in Civil Engineering & B.Tech. Civil Engineering Students. The objective of this workshop was to provide the basic knowledge and hands on experience in Quantum GIS (QGIS) software such as creation of thematic layers, spatial analysis, data conversion, GIS data querying etc. Around 70 students from different polytechnic colleges and engineering colleges participated and got an exposure on QGIS hands on training.

A two-day workshop on “Soil Investigation and Site Exploration” was held from 26.4.2022 to 27.4.2022 by the Department of Civil Engineering, School of Infrastructure. Dr. V Balakumar, Senior Consultant, Simplex Infrastructures limited, Chennai and Er. Karthikeyan A, Proprietor, from M/s. Karthikeyan Associates, Chennai shared their technical experience related to soil investigation and exploration techniques. More than 40 students from different institutions participated.

Crescent Literarian Hub of the Department of English of B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology organised Shakespeare’s Day 2022, an intercollegiate competition on 23rd April 2022.

Thiru. A. R. Rahul Nadh, I.A.S, District Collector of Chengalpet was the Chief Guest of the Inaugural function. In his Chief Guest’s Address, he highlighted Shakespeare’s works are relevant even nearly after half a millennium, in today’s neoliberal world. Ms. R. Sujatha, Deputy Editor of The Hindu remarked how learning Shakespeare’s art of storytelling could help in writing the news story in the press. Dr.A. Azad, Registrar of BSACIST recalled the mesmerising effect Shakespeare’s plays had on him in his childhood days. Dr.N.Raja Hussain, Additional Registrar, Mr.V.N.A. Jalal, Senior General Manager, and Dr. Ayub Khan Dawood, Dean (School of Social Sciences and Humanities) offered felicitations. Dr. H. Sofia, Head (Department of English) welcomed the gathering.

Around 11 colleges participated in the event. Competitions such as play enactment, art expo, debate, quiz, sonnet recitation and creative writing were held and cash prizes worth Rs.32,000/- were awarded to the winners.

Department of civil engineering, School of Infrastructure have organized a workshop for the benefit of B.Tech – Civil Engineering students on BIM softwares on 21.4.2022 and 22.4.2022. This workshop provides the basic knowledge and hands on experience on BIM software. Students were given exposure on “Applications of BIM and VDC in modern day construction and job oppurtunities” by Mr. Pradeep, BIM manager. Students from various engineering colleges participated and got benefitted.

An awareness program on “Energy, Oil & Gas Conservation– Saksham 2022” was organized on 21.04.2022. Students of B.Tech (EEE), Research scholars and all the faculty members of EEE department participated in the event.

The guest speaker was Mr S Arockiya Antony is a gold medalist from Anna University and holds Master’s degree in petroleum refining and petrochemicals from Anna University in the year 2006. He is a BEE certified energy manager. He is currently working in Chennai Petroleum Corporation limited as Senior manager (production) taking care of Hydrocracking Unit. He has 15 years of experience in the field of hydrocarbon processing and has a strong knowledge base in the areas like Commissioning of process facilities, Hydrogen production facilities, Gasoline production unit, Refinery energy management, Process Modeling and Simulation, etc. He has excellent analytical/technical capabilities in Process unit problem identification and Troubleshooting. His areas of interest are Process simulation, Application of data analytics principles in the field of hydrocarbon processing, Application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of chemical engineering and green energy. Currently he is working on Identifying Artificial Intelligence (AI) application in Refining Industry and Refinery Energy Management through data analytics.

Department of civil engineering, School of Infrastructure have organized a two day workshop on “STADD PRO” for the benefit of B.Tech – Civil Engineering students on 19.4.2022 and 20.4.2022. This workshop provides the basic knowledge and hands on experience on “STADD PRO” software.

A guest lecture was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, School of Infrastructure in association with the American Society of Civil Engineers, Society of Civil Engineers and Indian Concrete Institute on 18.4.2022 at 10 am. The guest speaker Er. G. Jayarajan, Superintending Engineer/Civil at Udangudi Thermal Power Project – TANGEDCO and Vice President, TNEBEA delivered a lecture on the topic “An overview of Asia’s longest coal jetty at Udangudi 2X660MW super critical thermal power project”.

A workshop on climate change and its effect was conducted on 18.04.2022. It was organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in collaboration with IIT, Bombay. Prof.Chetan Singh Solanki, Prof./ IIT Bombay was the guest speaker. On one side, energy is the driver of our social and economic growth, while on the other side excessive use of fossil energy has caused climate change, which is becoming catastrophic and an threat to human existence. Since each one of us is a user of energy and hence contributor to climate change, each one of us must be part of the climate corrective actions. Adopting to Energy Swaraj or energy by locals for locals can be the solution to climate change, job creation, energy security and improving local economy. The speaker discussed philosophical, technical, economic, social, and environmental aspects of energy and climate change, along with a demonstration of the Energy Swaraj bus having facilities for working, meeting sleeping, cooking, washing, and training. The bus has the facilities to go through all daily activities. Energy Swaraj Yatra bus is demonstrated after the talk. The bus is fitted with 3.2 kW solar panels and 6 kWh of battery storage. It has a 3 kVa inverter. Lights, cooler, cookstove, TV, AC, laptop charging inside the bus are all solar-powered. The engine of the bus runs on diesel. The brochure highlighting the necessary information about the workshop was designed and circulated. A total of 40 faculty members and 500 students participated.

Selvakumar, Construction Executive Trainer, Pareto Engineers Training Academy, Chennai, delivered a lecture on the topic “Career Opportunities and Employability for Civil Engineers” for final year B.Tech. Civil Engineering students.

The Industry 4.0 – Industrial Design Visualisation & Conceptualisation” workshop was organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering along with MSME (Govt of India) and Equad Engg services Pvt ltd. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr.S.Rasool Mohideen , Dean SMS . The introduction was delivered by Mrs. Vaishnavi Vignesh Raja,. Director – Equad Engineering Services, VP – Operations & Strategy – SECO Controls Pvt. Ltd.

Department of civil engineering, School of infrastructure have organised a workshop for the benefit of faculty members and students on the usage of National Instrument- DaQ system (Data Acquisition system) on 04.04.2022. The seminar dealt with strain reading, LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) usage and load cell usage with the data acquisition system.

The Department of English conducted value added courses on Copy editing and Proof reading to the First, Second and Third year students of B.A.English (Hons.) from 28.3.2022 to 9.4.2022. The students were trained by Vijay Nicole Publishers Pvt, Ltd, Chennai on Introduction to Publishing, Parts of publication, Step-by-step copy editing I and II, Copyright /Plagiarism, Publishing workflow and parts of a publication, Proof reading Symbols, Design Template / Symbols, Abbreviations, Special characters, Knowledge of Typesetting to mention a few.

An expert lecture on “Thermo electrically enhanced highly integrated wire bondless SiC half bridge power module” was organized by the Department of EEE of B.S.Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology on 25.3.2022 at EEE Department Seminar Hall for the benefit of the B.Tech and M.Tech students, faculty members and research scholars. Dr. Shiladri Chakraborty, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engg, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay delivered the lecture. The event started with formal inaugural address by the Vice Principal of the School followed by the career guidance speech delivered by Dr. Jennathu Beevi AP(Sr.Grade)/EEE. Later on Dr.Shafeeque Ahamed AP/EEE delivered a lecture on “Electrostatics” to plus two students. Then quiz competition was conducted by Mr.S.Suresh, AP/EEE and Dr.K.Shafeeque Ahamed AP/EEE . Around 60 students participated enthusiastically in the quiz competition . Finally the students with top score were awarded with cash prizes.

A guest lecture on “Awareness session on Robotics, AI and IoT was organized by the Department of EEE of B.S.Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology on 11.3.2022 at EEE Department Seminar Hall for the benefit of the faculty members and III year students. Mr Ramaiah Chidambaram, Manager, Industry 4.0, CIIC presented the topic. Around 45 participants comprising of faculty members and students have participated the lecture.

Four staff members of EEE department visited Vellayan Chettiyar Higher Secondary School, Thiruvottiyur on March 10th 2022 at 01:30 PM for conducting career guidance and quiz programme for the Plus Two students. The event started with formal inaugural address by the Head of the School followed by the introduction of our institution by Dr. Belwin J. Brearley. Later on quiz competition was conducted by Dr. R. Hannah Lalitha, Dr. P. Abirami, Dr. K. R. Shanmuga Vadivu. All the students participated enthusiastically in the event. Career guidance speech and promotional video were presented to motivate the students. The students with top score were awarded with prizes. Finally, the programme was ended with vote of thanks delivered by the AHM of the school.

The inauguration of the All India Inter University Ball Badminton (Men) Tournament 2021-2022 was held on 10th March 2022 organized by Department of Physical Education, B.S.Abdur Rahman Crescent Institution of Science and Technology, Chennai. The chief guest for the function was Dr. M.Sundar Vice Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Chennai. Dr. A. Peer Mohamed, Vice Chancellor, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institution of Science and Technology, Chennai presided over the function.

In the inaugural address, the chief guest asked the students to focus more on playing various sports. He explained the benefits of playing sports, how it helps to stay fit both mentally and physically. He said playing sports is a lot more than just technique and scoring – it involves wholesome personality development. He requested the students to participate in more sports activities which will help them in representing themselves in World games and Olympics.

An exciting match between Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, Andra Pradesh and Tumkur University, Karnataka took place in the ground of the BSACIST. The Vice Chancellor of TNPESU and BSACIST has started the first match.

Matches were conducted in two venues B.S.Abdur Rahman Crescent Institution of Science and Technology and Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Chennai. Total Twenty Six teams were registered on 10th March 2022 in morning session in BSACIST and TNPESU (Pool A and B) out of that six sets were participated.

The second day of the tournament starts with same power and enthusiasm as a new beginning. More than forty universities were registered out of them we have twenty matches between different universities.

Jalgaon, (Maharastra) and PT Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur (Chhattisgarh) took place in the ground of the BSACIST respectable General Manager Mr. V. The webinar on “Scope for Research in Opto Mechatronics” was organized by the Society of Mechanical Engineers, Department of Mechanical Engineering. The presentation was delivered by Mr. Saran Kumar, Research Scholar, Opto Mechatronics Lab, IIT Madras. The event was coordinated by Dr. S. Jeavudeen.

The webinar offered awareness to the undergraduate students about opto Mechatronics. A brief introduction to the field of Opto Mechatronics that deals with the integration of optical components in Mechatronic systems was offered to the students. Optical sensors are used as measuring devices to control mechatronic systems. He touched upon the applications of these equipment’s and its research potential.

He pointed out few success stories of research scholars and emphasized the benefits of doing research in eminent institutions. He also insisted the students to prepare for GATE Exams and aim for doing higher studies and collaborate with IIT, NITs for Research and utilize the facilities available there.

Dr. S.Vijayakumar Assistant Professor of English was honoured in recognition of his remarkable achievement in high publications and his dedication in enhancing the visibility of the department in research. Ms.Faheema Jaffarin of II year B.A.English (Hons.) was honoured as a budding young author of three books The Metamorphosis, Miles Away from Home and The Wind Beneath my Wings. The students of B.A.English (Hons.) performed on stage the scene from the famous play The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe’s The Tragic History of Doctor Faustus.

All the Executive Members of Crescent Literarian Hub received the badges from the Chief Guest. The winners from Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed Womens’ College received the trophy from the Registrar for their overall achievement in Shakespeare’s Day conducted online on 23.4.2021.

On Day-1, the Dean, Crescent School of Business, Dr. K. Srinivasan, welcomed the gathering consisting of 122 students freshers, our esteemed Vice Chancellor, Registrar and Additional Registrar, deans, directors, faculty members of the department. The presidential address was delivered by the VC, Dr. A. Peer Mohamed, followed by keynote address by the chief guest. The chief guest was Mr. C.K. Kumaravel, CEO & Co-founder, Naturals Salon & Spa who was honoured with a memento and a shawl by the VC & the Registrar.

The chief guest enlightened and inspired the students through the role model he had admired and mesmerised the students through his thought-provoking speech. The programme was felicitated by Dr. N. Raja Hussain, Additional Registrar, Dr. M.S. Haji Sheik Mohammed Dean, Academic Affairs, Mr. M. Parvez Alam, Director & CEO, Crescent Innovation & Incubation Council (CIIC), Dr. Karthikeyan Ramalingam, Dean, Student Affairs & Chief Proctor (Discipline), Dr. Latha Tamilselvan, Chair Person, Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Dr. S. Kaja Mohideen, Director (PG Admissions) & Hostel Warden, Dr. S. Selvakumar, Director, Physical Education, and Dr. K. Ganesh, Director, Placement & Training. Finally, the vote of thanks was proposed by the HOD/MS, Dr. M. Shanmugam.

In the afternoon session, the students were taken around the campus.

On Day-2, Mr. Shashikanth Jayaraman, Founder, HR Sangam and Vice President, Global Human Resources, Multicoreware Inc and Mr. Gokul Santhanam, Senior Vice President, Mphasis gave motivational talks in the forenoon session while Mr. Samuel Harris, Founder, Tieke Education Pvt. Ltd. gave the talk in afternoon session.

The five days special camp has been organized by the NSS units of BS Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology at Keerappakam, Arungal, and Murugamangalam panchayaths in the Kattankullathur union of Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu during the period of 27.09.2021 to 01.10.2021. There were various programmes and functions were organized under the leadership of the NSS units of the Crescent Institute. Programmes like cleaning of school premises, awareness of healthy food habits, importance of hygiene and sanitation, manuring and irrigation, importance of disaster management, farm pond, rainwater harvesting and conservation methods- and various sports, funs and cultural programmes for the school children’s and for NSS volunteers. The main motives for conducting the special camp is to develop the society, enlighten the villagers and NSS volunteers by giving awareness on various socio-economic issues facing by the downtrodden sections. Around 150 volunteers from the three III units of the NSS Crescent Institute of Science and Technology including boys and girls were actively participated each and every programme conducted in the village as part of special camp.

Valedictory function was organized in the last day of the special camp at the Keerapakkam panchayath middle school premises. The function was inaugurated by our Honourable registrar Dr. A. Azad of BSA Crescent Institute of Science and Technology.

Department of Polymer Engineering in association with Department of Chemistry organized a webinar on “Opportunities in Polymer Research” on 15.09.2021. Dr.M.Alagar, Research Consultant, PSG group of Institutions, Coimbatore. In addition 10 Alumni of Department Polymer Engineering shared the Opportunities in Polymer Research in various sectors.

As a part of “Engineer’s day” celebration a webinar was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, School of Infrastructure on 15.9.2021. The guest speaker Dr.C.Velan, City Head – Chennai Operations, CapitaLand India Chennai, delivered a lecture on the topic “Civil Engineers and Economic Growth of India”, for our future Engineers.

Department of Polymer Engineering in association with Department of Chemistry organized a talk on “Career Opportunities in Polymer Research” by Dr.M.Alagar, Research Consultant, PSG group of Institutions, Coimbatore on 08.09.2021.

The online webinar on “An introductory webinar on Industry 4.0 – Industrial Design Visualisation & Conceptualisation” was organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering. The webinar was presided by. Dr.S.Rasool Mohideen, Dean SMS . The presentation was delivered by Mrs. Vaishnavi Vignesh Raja,. Director – Equad Engineering Services, VP – Operations & Strategy – SECO Controls Pvt. Ltd.

Around 200 students from Mechanical, department, and faculty members participated in the webinar. The webinar emphasized on the importance of Industry 4.0 – Industrial Design Visualization & Conceptualization concept and their role in industries.

The Department of Management Studies organized a virtual Alumni Meet for all the batches of MBA and Ph.D on 4th September 2021 (Saturday) between 10:30 am to 12: 30 pm. The meet started with the welcome address by Dr. K Srinivasan, Dean, Department of management Studies, and special address by Dr. M. Shanmugam, HOD, Department of Management Studies.

The HoD briefed about the Department and introduced the faculty members. The future plans for the department were also discussed. Dr. K. Ganesh, Director, Office of Alumni Relations felicitated the Alumni participants. All the Alumni participants introduced themselves, shared their experiences and given valuable feedback for the development of the Department. The Department of Information Technology, School of Computer Information and Mathematical Sciences organized an online Webinar on “The importance of Ethical Hacking” on 31st August 2021 from 11.15 am to 12.45 pm through Zoom meeting.

The Resource Person of the webinar is Mr. Manoj Kashyap, Co-founder & Technical Head, Ethical Byte. A total of 270 participants including students, faculty members from various Institutions attended the webinar. Mr. Manoj Kashayap discussed about various kinds of hardware attacks, attacks on IOT devices and the awareness required for securing our Smartphone in the day-to-day activities. Also he demonstrated about DoS attacks (Wikipedia, Zoom), Router attacks and the attacks happened recently in the Tesla electric car.

The resource person explained about shell scripting with a demonstration in Linux environment. And he discussed about the design of a pen drive with 3D printer. The discussion was continued about the Crunch tool and Yersinia tools to crack the usernames and passwords (face book) of social media accounts. The resource person advised the participants not to click on the links shared in emails and not to download the attachments which are coming from unknown sources. It was very exciting for the participants to have interaction with resource person and cleared their queries. The participants appreciated the resource person and the informative session in their feedback.

The Department of Management Studies organized an Alumni webinar on “Introduction to Digital Disruption in Banking” for the MBA Students on 25th August 2021 (Wednesday) between 10:30 am to 11: 30 am through Google meet Application. Mr. Raghuveer Subharmanian is the invited alumnus for delivering the webinar.

Mr. Raghuveer Subharmanian, an MBA alumnus passed out in the year 2006 is currently the Assistant Vice President of Barclays. He briefed about the digital banking processes and new technologies which impact the banking sector. He also discussed about the expectation of banking sector from MBA graduates. The session benefitted the students in understanding the digital disruption in the banking sector. More than 75 MBA students participated in the session.

The 75th Independence Day was celebrated in our Institution on the 15th of August, 2021. Mr. BSA Arif Buhary Rahman, the Chancellor hoisted the National Flag and distributed certificates and prizes to the staff and to the adopted school children, and addressed the gathering. Dr. N. Raja Hussain, the Additional Registrar welcomed the gathering; Dr. A.Peer Mohamed, the Vice Chancellor delivered the presidential address; Dr. A. Azad, the Registrar gave the felicitation address. Mr. VNA Jalal, the Senior General Manager also participated in the event. Dr. S.S.M. Abdul Majeed, Director – Admissions concluded the event with the Vote of Thanks. The 75th Independence Day celebration was also witnessed with Tree Plantations across different locations within the campus.
