Research

Area of Research Interest

  • Marxism. My interest in Marxism led me to study MA economics and MA political science to understand and master Material dialectics as an approach to study society and its contradictions.
  • Political theory and philosophy, with a particular focus on concepts such as democracy, liberty and equality and their contemporary relevance.
  • Interlinkage of politics, society, culture, and economy in Indian society.
  • Poverty studies. This is my ultimate research goal in which I like to unearth the contradictions of the social, economic, cultural, and historical processes of the world which builds and sustains poverty.

  • Delivered a special lecture on “Marxism” at Saveetha School of Law, SIMATS, Chennai on 29/10/2018.
  • Participated in the seminar on “Perspectives on durable solutions for Sri Lankan Tamil Refugees in India” on February 06, 2017, organized by the department of politics and public administration and department of criminology, University of Madras, Chennai.

Additional Responsibilities

  • I was part of the team that prepared the complete curriculum for BA public policy. As mentioned in the CV, the course had numerous unique features.
  • Since I was the only full-time faculty during the initial days and the department used to take the services of experts from the fields of civil service coaching in the capacity of visiting faculty, I had to manage the timetable and coordinate the functions of visiting faculty.
  • I represented the department in the board of studies meeting to get approval of the syllabus for two semesters.
  • I had to maintain the records of the department with the help of support staff, both digitally and manually.
  • I served as the class advisor for the students for three semesters and mentored them in all possible ways during that tenure.
  • I was part of the team that produced proposals for creating a center of dravidian studies in University of Madras.
  • I was part of the organizing committee for all the seminars, special lectures, and workshops organized by our department in University of Madras.
  • I took active part in all the departmental activities like youth parliament, debate sessions, etc in University of Madras.
  • I took classes for the students of distance education from time to time in University of Madras.
  • In IAS academies I must be a mentor for students in an individual capacity. Must maintain the individual progress of the students and must speak with them at least once a month (either online or offline).
  • I must record short videos and interviews regarding my field of expertise to promote my subject and the academy.
