A One Week Student Workshop for Global Accounting Standards
The Department of Commerce organised a one week student workshop on IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) insights – A Global Accounting Standards in collaboration with ISDC and ACCA from 13th May till 20th May 2024 in online mode in exclusively for B.Com (Honours) Students. There was No Registration Fee for the participants for attending this workshop. Interested participants were requested to attend the workshop. A total of 40 students attended as participants.
Department of Polymer Engineering organized a Guest Lecture on 29th April 2024. Dr. S. Shamshath Begum, Associate Professor and HOD (i/c) welcomed the gathering. The Guest Lecture was coordinated by Dr. Basanta Kumar Behera, Associate Professor (Sr.Gr). He introduced the speaker. Dr. Poondi Srinivasan, Consultant, Chennai, delivered a talk on “Industries Synthesis of Polymers – Polyolefins”. Students participated interacted with the speaker and industrial experience of Dr. Poondi Srinivasan was shared among the attendees.
A seminar is organized on “Global opportunities for Instrumentation Engineers’ (Hybrid Mode) on 26.04.24. Mr.N.Arumuga Perumal, Senior Hardware Discipline Manager, Dow Chemicals International Pvt.Ltd, Chennai delivered the lecture for the benefit of school and college students.
Dr.Basanta Kumar Behera, Faculty from the Department of Polymer Enginnering attended a technical session on the following topics: (1) Future of Tyre and Rubber Industry in 2030 and Beyond (2) Digitization of Rubber good industry.
Mr.K.J.Janakar, Chairman IRI, Chennai Branch welcomes the gathering from vehicle manufacturers and MSME manufacturing sector who supply rubber products to the automobile industries. Mr.P.K.Mohammed, Chief Convener, RubberCon 2024 from Apollo Tyres talked and informed the audience regarding the Rubber conference 2024. He requested the audience (around 200) to participate in the rubber conference. It followed by a brief presentation by Mr.Ravi Soni of Ravi Eterprises, New Delhi to introduce his industry to the august gathering. His industry is one of the leading silica manufacturer in India and supplied materials to all the tyre industries in India and abroad.
Dr.R.Mukhopodhyay, Chairman IRI talked about the future of tyre and rubber industry in 20230 and Beyond. He highlighted the role of India as a leader in manufacturing sector and particularly the tyre and rubber industries. He also mentioned regarding the digitization and use of artificial intelligence and data science in the rubber manufacturing industries.
Mr.V.R.Chandrasekar, Chief Digital Technology officer, JK Fenner (India) Ltd on the digitization of rubber goods industry. Then followed by questions and answer session, where few people from industry enquired about the digitization of old machines and Mr.Chandrasekar answerd the questions.
Finally, vote of thanks was given by Mr.Sudhakar, Vice-Chairman, IRI-Chennai Branch.Dr.Shankar Venugopal also talked about the lithium – ion batteries and its importance in the design of electric vehicles and sustainability.
Crescent School of Law,in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office, Government of Tamil Nadu and Internal Complaints Committee – B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology organized the One-Day Sensitization Programme on “Sexual Harassment” under the POSH Act and “Child Protection” under the POCSO Act on 25th April 2024.. The programme aimed to empower female staff members and students by creating awareness about sexualharassment, its forms, and the legal provisions under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Acts.the programme brought together experts and practitioners to discuss strategies and interventions for combating sexual harassment and ensuring child protection.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has four professional societies namely Society of Mechanical Engineers (SME), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and Indian Society for Heating Refrigeration and Air conditioning Engineering (ISHRAE). These societies conduct various events for the benefit of student communities. The Annual Technical Symposium – Mecha Rush 2K24 was conducted on 24.04.2024.
This symposium aimed to unveil the inherent talents of students from various fields, preparing them for both employment and entrepreneurship. Through its events, it sought to boost students creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Mr. M. Venkatramanan, DGM – Sales and Marketing, HL Mando Anand India Limited inaugurated the event and delivered inaugural address. Dr. A. S. Selvakumar, HoD – Mechanical welcomed the gathering and Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean (SMS) felicitated the function. In the inaugural address, Chief Guest – Mr. M. Venkatramanan spoke about the Challenges in the Industry, Expectations from the employer, Future of core industries, and the Impact of AI on the global scenario. Faculty members and students from various institutions attended the function.
The Commerce Conclave 2024, was inaugurated on April 24, 2024, by the Department of Commerce, School of Social Sciences, and Humanities at B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology. This inaugural event aimed to inspire and empower future commerce professionals through activities beyond traditional academics, including strategy creation, case studies, debates, business competitions, and futsal matches.
Chief Guest Shri. Roshni Nair Radhakrishnan, ACCA, CPA, CGA, AVP at Deutsche Bank India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, emphasized the importance of professional programs in her address. Dr. Ayub Khan Dawood, Dean of the School, highlighted the department’s achievements and welcomed all attendees.
The conclave saw participation from 453 students across 136 teams from various Indian campuses. Events included Strategic Business Leader, E-Conjecture, Edge over Ethics, Marketing Gala, Business Bonanza, Hot Futsal, Trivia Turmoil, and The Auction, each showcasing students’ talents and skills.
COMERCIO’24 successfully highlighted the potential in the field of commerce, setting a high standard for future events at B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology.
The seminar on “College to Corporate” gave an insight about the quality skills required for the students to fulfil the corporate / entrepreneur requirements. The event was organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Automobile Engineering in association with SAEISS MWC division.
The following resource persons were participated the event. Mr. R. Govindarajan,Head Product Development- Global Testing and validation, Royal Enfield, Chennai. Divisional members from SAEISS MWC, Chairman – Dr.Baskara Sethupathy, Secretary – Mr. Vijayakumar, Treasurer- Dr..Kirthika, MC member – Dr.Arualanandam. Totally 125 students and faculty members of Mechanical and Automobile Engineering attended and benefitted from the seminar.

The outcome of attending the seminar was to know the different advancements in the design and usages of different rubber products. Also, few contacts with industry personalities and Mr.S.Ganesh, Honorary Secretar, IRI, Chennai visited the Department of Polymer Engineering with a discussion with Dr.S.Shamshath Begum, HoD/PE regarding future collaboration.
On 28th March 2024, the Department of Polymer Engineering, BSACIST, Chennai organized an webinar on the topic entitled “Effect of Additives on Structure Development in Semicrystalline Polymers and Associated Properties” by the eminent speaker Prof. Dr. S. Radhakrishnan through online mode. The lecture through online mode was a part of guest lecture organized by the department to engage the students with eminent personalities on Polymer Engineering. The webinar was attended by the B.Tech. Polymer Engineering and also the students from other Institutions providing Polymer/Plastic Engineering course all across India. Students from CIPET Bhubaneswar, CIPET Balasore (Odisha), CIPET Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Department of Polymer Engineering, MIT, Aurangabad, Maharashtra also attended the webinar
Organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “The Future of Energy” by Mr.Birendra Nayak, Director (Business Intelligence and Pricing-GE Vernova- Europe,MENA, SSA & South Asia), General Electric on 28.03.2024.
The ASME student Section, Department of Mechanical Engineering, B S Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai hosted an electrifying Hovercraft Racing Student Competition, showcasing the ingenuity and talent of young engineers and enthusiasts, held at Mechanical Sciences Block (Seminar hall III floor) on 27.03.2024, the event brought together students from various departments to compete in a thrilling display of technological innovation and racing prowess. The competition event inaugurated by our Prof. Dr. H Siddhi Jailani/Dean (SMS) and Prof. Dr. A.S. Selvakumar/HoD (Mech).
One – Day Workshop on Applications of Cloud Computing in the Real World was held on 15th March 2024, during 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. The Department of Computer Applications, School of Computer, Information and Mathematical Sciences organized the event.

The seminar on “Latest Trends in Automotive Industry, E-Mobility, Safety, and Advanced Materials” brought together students, researchers, and faculty members to discuss and analyze the ongoing advancements and future prospects in the industry is organized by School of Mechanical Sciences in association with SAEINDIA and conducted on 14.3.2024.
The event aimed to shed light on the transformative changes happening within the automotive landscape, particularly focusing on the areas of electric mobility, safety enhancements, and the integration of advanced materials. Totally 62 students and faculty members have attended and benefitted from the seminar.
Mr. Prasad Arun Kumar, Divisional Manager, from Stellantis Ltd, Chennai was the resource person for the seminar program. The commencement of the workshop is presided over by the esteemed Dean, Dr H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean, School of Mechanical Sciences, Dr. A.S. Selvakumar, (H.O.D – Mechanical ) and Dr. P.D. Jeyakumar, ( H.O.D- Automobile) The seminar coordinators. M. A. Sai Balaji, Assoc. Prof./Mech and Dr. C. K. Arvinda Pandian, AP (Senior Grade)/Auto have delivered the speaker (resource person) introduction speech and welcome address respectively. The Dean has presented the memento to the resource person. The resource person has given a wonderful presentation about the e-mobility advancements, safety innovations, ADAS, integration of advanced composite materials etc. Finally, the seminar concluded with the vote of thanks by the seminar coordinator.
The Department of Information Technology in association with Edunet Foundation and IBM has successfully conducted 4-days “IBM Project Based Boot Camp on Cloud and AI Technologies” from 12.3.24 to 16.3.24. The second, third and final year students of B.Tech(IT) attended the bootcamp and were given hands-on experience in IBM industry tools pertaining to Cloud, Data science and Artificial Intelligence.
The IBM boot camp Programme utilized cloud-based services like IBM Cloud and Watson Studio for access to cutting-edge industry tools and the students gained exposure to technologies used by professionals, enhancing their skillset.
An industry relevant real time project using IBM Cloud in the fields of Data analytics, AI, and NLP has been completed thereby enhancing comprehension and skill development of the undergraduate students. The students received professionally recognized badges and certificates from IBM on “Journey to Cloud: Envisioning your solution”, “Getting started with Enterprise Data science” and “Getting started with Enterprise-grade AI” during the training sessions of the bootcamp.
The IBM Skill Build Programme was coordinated by Dr.N.Prakash, Professor & Head/IT and Dr.G.Kavitha, Professor & Directoric/CITL. We thank our Vice-Chancellor Dr.T.Murugesan, Dr.N.Raja Hussain, Registrar and Dr. Sharmila Sankar, Dean(SCIMS) for their motivation and support in organizing this IBM Bootcamp.
Department of Polymer Engineering organized the National Level Technical Symposium, “MACRON 2024” on 1st March 2024. Dr. T. Murugesan, Vice Chancellor delivered the presidential address. Dr. N. Thajuddin, Pro-Vice Chancellor delivered the inaugural address, Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean (School of Mechanical Sciences) delivered the felicitation address. Dr. S. Shamshath Begum, Associate Professor and HOD (i/c) welcomed the gathering. The symposium was coordinated by Dr. J. Shahitha Parveen, Assistant Professor (Sel. Gr). Dr. R. Rajesh Babu, Divisional Head – Compound Development Apollo Tyres, Chennai was the chief guest of the National Level Technical Symposium. Student Magazine “POLYLINKS 2k24” was released by the chief guest. He delivered a talk on “Sustainability in Tyre Industries”. Students from various colleges participated in various events such as paper presentation, poster presentation, technical quiz and non-technical events. The certificates and prizes were distributed to the participants.
The technical symposium “Cybercrest2024” took place on 29th February 2024, from 10:00 AM to 4:10 PM, at the Convention Centre Auditorium. This event was organized by the Department of Computer Applications and the School of Computer Information and Mathematical Sciences. A total of 169 participants from various colleges across Tamil Nadu attended. The symposium featured several events, including the Innovation Expo, Technical Quiz, Debugging, MIME, and Gaming. The chief guest Mr.Sudhir Menon, Deputy General Manager, Airport Authority of India, shared his valuable insights to the students.
The Department of Commerce BSACIST organised International Guest Lecture on “Achieving Sustainable Development Goals by Technology and Business Resilience” Prof. Dr. MBN Ismail, Professor in Management, Faculty of Management and Commerce, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka.
The session started with the blessings of the Almighty, proceedings with a soul-stirring qirath by Dr. Sibgathullah Nasir followed by a welcome speech by Dr.Ayub khan Dean, School of Social Science and Humanities (SSSH) and Dr.T.Selvakumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce introduced the Chief Guest for the day. First and second year B.Com (Hons) and First year and third year BBA students were the audience.
Prof. Dr. MBN Ismail, explained about, aimed to explore the intersection of technology and business resilience in the context of advancing sustainable development globally. The lecture commenced with an overview of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their significance, he highlighted the pivotal role of technology in driving progress towards the SDGs, and the concept of business resilience and its intrinsic link to sustainability.
The Industrial Visit to Kaashiv Infotech on 21.02.2024 started around 9.15 am. 115 Students of II year BCA(AI, CS & DS) accompanied with Staff Incharges Dr. R.Shanthi, Ms.S.Sabaria, Mr.Mohamed Anwar reached Kaashiv Infotech at Madhuravoyal around 10.00 am. We had a warm welcome and a good discussion about the company and its products. Basically this company provides technology and solutions that is based on Python, Big Data and App Development. Professionals from Kaashiv Infotech addressed the students.

A Guest lecture on “Human Capital Cross Cultural Management” by Dr.Bijay Sigdel . Associate Dean. Faculty of Management. Metharath university, Thailand.
The session started with a welcome speech by Dr.Rathna, Director of Centre for International Relations, Dr.Soundarapandiyan, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Commerce introduced the Chief Guest for the day and Dr.Ayub khan Dean, School of Social Science and Humanities (SSSH) felicitated the event.
Overall 40 students from second and third year BBA were the audience. Dr.Bijay Sigdel, explained about, what is Human capital and Cross culture Management, its importance in the technological world. He also gave live examples with case studies. The session was interesting and informative.
Crescent School of Law, B S Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, recently organized a one-day national workshop on the fundamentals and procedures of trial advocacy. Held on February 5th, 2024, the workshop aimed to enlighten students from various law colleges across Tamil Nadu on the intricacies of trial advocacy.
The event commenced with a warm welcome from the Dean of the School of Law, Prof. Dr. C. Chockalingam, followed by a felicitation address by the Registrar, Prof. Dr. N. Raja Hussain. The highlight of the workshop was the presence of Mr. Simerjeet Singh Satia, an esteemed advocate from Delhi, who served as the resource person for the event.
The workshop featured three insightful sessions, each designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of trial advocacy. Topics covered included understanding trial propositions, distinguishing between trial advocacy and mooting, the procedural aspects of trial advocacy, briefing witnesses, examining various annexures and witnesses, techniques for examination in chief and cross-examination, the art of presenting leading questions, and crafting persuasive closing arguments.
The Department of Commerce, School of Social Science and Humanities, organized an international guest lecture titled “Circular Economy towards Sustainable Financial Development” on 31st Jan 2024. Prof. Dr. Tasya Aspiranti, a renowned expert in the field, delivered the lecture, sharing her insights and expertise with an engaged audience of students and faculty members.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. Ayub Khan Dawood, Professor and Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities. He highlighted the importance of the circular economy in promoting sustainable development and expressed his gratitude to Prof. Aspiranti for sharing her expertise.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Universitas Islam Bandung (UNISBA), Indonesia and BS Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai (Deemed to be University) to promote academic collaboration and exchange. This MoU will facilitate faculty and student exchange programs, joint research projects, and curriculum development initiatives in areas of mutual interest, including sustainable development and circular economy.
The Sullamussalam-Crescent Integrated Learning Exchange Programme, ‘SCILEX,’ commenced, emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange in discovering the humanity that unites us, transcending borders and differences.
Officials from B.S. AbdurRahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology, along with faculties and students of Sullamussalam Science College, Areekode, gathered at the Seminar Hall for the official inauguration. At 10:00 sharp, the programme commenced with a Qiraath by Dr.SibaghatullahNasir, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, in the presence of all administrative board members, faculties, and students. The FDP on “Data Analysis Techniques for Qualitative and Quantitative Research” was conducted from January 3 – 10, 2024 at Crescent School of Business, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology, Chennai – 600 048. A total of 50 participants attended the workshop from various institutions.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has organized one day National Seminar on “High Performance Materials and Its Characterization for Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Applications” ” held on 15.11.2023 at B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, in Association with Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI), Chennai Branch. Total 48 students registered for this seminar including external and internal participants. The seminar started with recitation of Qirath. The seminar coordinator, Dr. K. Mohamed Bak, extended a warm welcome to the attendees, and Dr. A. S. Selvakumar, HoD – Mechanical and Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean (SMS), offered their felicitations thereafter.
Seminar on Cracking the Code: Machine Learning in Digital Marketing was held on 9th November 2023, during 1.30 pm –3 pm. The Department of Computer Applications, School of Computer, Information and Mathematical Sciences organized the event.

A seminar on “Solid waste management and its potential job oppurtunities” was organized by the Student Chapter of the Indian Plumbing Association (IPE), Department of Civil Engineering on 09.11.2023, 9.30 am at Seminar Hall for the benefit of III Year B.Tech Civil Engineering students.
Ms. Krishnapriya A. an environmental engineer and co-founder of Spreco Recycling Pvt. Ltd. She is a Certified Zero Waste Advisor, specializing in implementing sustainable practices and guiding organizations towards waste reduction goals. She briefed about ‘SPRECO’ which is a social enterprise being built by a group of young and vibrant professionals working towards creating an inclusive and formal waste
management ecosystem.
The Department of Polymer Engineering organized a seminar on “Recent Trends in Tyre and Rubber Product Manufacture” on 08.11.2023. The event aimed at providing comprehensive overview of the current state of the tyre industry focusing on market dynamics, technological advancements, industrial manufacturing process and performance. Three distinguished speakers shared their expertise, each offering a unique perspective on various aspects of tyre industry. The seminar was open to all the members of the institute.

One-Day Workshop on “Getting Started with Cyber Security and Practical Open Source Intelligence” was held on 07th November, 2023, during 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. The Department of Computer Applications, School of Computer, Information and Mathematical Sciences organized the event.
The Resource person of this workshop was, Renganathan P, Ethical Hacker and Cyber Security Researcher / R Protocols. The workshop was organized by the faculty members Dr.R.Shanthi and Mrs.S.Sabaria. The workshop was attended by students and faculty members of the department.
The Industry 4.0 – Industrial Design Visualisation & Conceptualisation” workshop was organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering along with MSME (Govt of India) and Equad Engg services Pvt ltd. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean – School of Mechanical Sciences,Dr. A. S. Selva Kumar, Head of the Department, Mechanical Engineering and Prof Dr.S.Rasool Mohideen, Mechanical Engineering . Around 16 students from Mechanical, Auto and Aero department participated in the workshop.
One – Day Workshop on Recent Trends in AI was held on 06th November, 2023, during 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. The Department of Computer Applications, School of Computer, Information and Mathematical Sciences organized the event.
The Resource person of this workshop was, Mr.Gokul Raj, Lead Data Scientist – SEAM Pvt.Ltd. & Mr.Wasim, Data Science Trainee & AI support. The workshop was attended by UG Final year students, MCA Final year students and 1st year & 2nd year students of BCA Artificial Intelligence and faculty members of the department.
Seminar on CRM Technologies was held on 03rd November, 2023, during 02.30 pm to 04.00 pm. The Department of Computer Applications, School of Computer, Information and Mathematical Sciences organized the event.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has four professional societies namely Society of Mechanical Engineers (SME), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and Indian Society for Heating Refrigeration and Air conditioning Engineering (ISHRAE). These societies are conducting various events for the benefit of students. The inauguration of these societies for the academic year 2023-24 was conducted on 03rd November – 2023 at the Seminar Hall, Convention centre.
Mr. S. Paramasivam, DGM – Technical Expert, Vehicle Division, Renault Nissan Business Centre India Private Ltd was the guest of the occasion. Dr. A. S. Selvakumar, HoD – Mechanical welcomed the gathering. Dr. N. Thajuddin, Pro-Vice Chancellor, presided the function and released the News Bulletin of the department. Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean (SMS) felicitated the function. In the inaugural address, Chief Guest – Mr. S. Paramasivam spoke about the creativity, innovation, sensors, and e-mobility. Faculty members, and students attended the function.
Two day hands-on workshop on Contemporary IC Engine Technology Using Virtual Reality is organized by the Department of Automobile Engineering, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology in association with Mirage Mechanics, Chennai on 2nd & 3rd November 2023. The resource persons are Dr. S. Thiyagarajan and Mr. M. Deepak.
The commencement of the workshop was presided over by the esteemed Dean, Dr H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean School of Mechanical Sciences. In addition to inaugurating the workshop, Dean has also delivered the inaugural address. Dr P. D. Jeyakumar, Head of the Department of Automobile Engineering, extended a warm welcome to the participants in his address. A brief presentation on virtual reality and the workshop was given by the resource person, Dr. S. Thiyagarajan. A total of 35 students from the B. Tech Automobile & Mechanical Engineering and M. Tech CAD-CAM have registered for this workshop. This workshop presented a valuable opportunity for automobile and mechanical engineers to gain a rich and rewarding experience in the realm of virtual reality. This workshop offered a magnificent platform for the application of virtual reality and IC engine technology, opened up endless possibilities for students to create remarkable experiences. The inauguration concluded with a vote of thanks from the workshop coordinator, Dr. C. K. Arvinda Pandian.
E-Cell, IIT Kharagpur in association with Crescent School of Business, organized the Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive at Crescent Campus on October 30, 2023 from 11:00 am to 02:00 pm. The registered participants include the students of MBA IEV, MBA, representations from various departments of BSACIST and students from other leading institutions. A total of 500 registered participants took part in the event. Dr. K. Srinivasan, Dean, CSB welcomed the gathering. The inaugural address was given by Dr. N. Raja Hussain, Registrar, BSACIST. The event began with motivational talk by the Chief Guest, Mr. C.K. Kumaravel, CEO, Naturals Saloon and Spa. During his speech he narrated live examples and revealed some secrets of success to the participants. He also shared his story of becoming a successful entrepreneur.
Mr. Rajiv Ramanan, Co-founder, Spendflo conducted a workshop on ‘Go To Market’ Strategy which was well appreciated by the participants. He gave lot of insights about how to take the product to the potential customers in the most economical manner. The program also had an online quiz conducted by Mr. Dhesam Nihal of IIT Kharagpur and his team.

“Data Center and High-Performance Computing for Engineering Applications” seminar was organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering and Data Center, BSACIST, along with CSI (Chennai Chapter). The Seminar was inaugurated by Dr. N. Raja Hussain, Registrar, BSACIST, Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean – School of Mechanical Sciences, Dr. A. S. Selva Kumar, Head of the Department, Mechanical Engineering and Dr.N.Ayyanathan, Director, Data Center. Around 70 students and 20 faculty from the Department of Mechanical Engineering participated in the workshop. The seminar started with recitation of Qirath. The seminar coordinator, Mr. S. Loganathan, Assistant Professor, extended a warm welcome to the attendees, and Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean (SMS), Dr. A. S. Selvakumar, HoD – Mechanical offered their felicitations thereafter.
The School of Electrical and Communication Sciences at [University/College Name] organized an insightful guest lecture on the topic “Opportunities for Higher Studies in US” on the 20th of October 2023. The event was aimed at providing students from the Electrical, Electronics, and Communication Engineering (EEE, ECE, and EIE) departments with valuable insights into pursuing career opportunities in the United States.
The esteemed guest speaker for this lecture was Mr. Mohan Natarajan, a distinguished alumnus of B.E ECE, Crescent Engineering College, 1994-98 batch. Mr. Natarajan graduated with a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Crescent Engineering College in 1998. He currently serves as a Carrier Account Manager at Apple, USA, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field of Electrical, Electronics, and Communication Engineering. The guest lecture by Mr. Mohan Natarajan provided a unique opportunity for students to gain insights into the challenges and opportunities involved in pursuing a successful career in the United States. The lecture covered various aspects, including the educational journey, career progression, and personal experiences of Mr. Natarajan.

The Battalion ‘Elton Mayo’ organized a series of management-oriented events for CSB students on 11th October 2023. The events started at 1.15PM. The students have nominated Ms.Sri Nikha (II MBA) as President and Mr. Vignesh (I MBA) as vice president of the Battalion. The Battalion organized three events namely ‘Ad-Zap’, ‘On spot product selling’ and ‘Digital Marketing’ on Marketing theme. The dedication, collaboration, and enthusiasm of the student members have made the event successful and acted as a driving force behind smooth accomplishment of Club activity.
The Department of Civil Engineering, School of Infrastructure organized an inauguration of Professional Society Activities of ASCE, ICI, IE(I) & IPA for the Academic Year 2023-2024 on 11.10.2023 from 10 am to 12.00 pm at Seminar Hall 1, Convention Centre, BSACIST. Dr. Deepak K. Kamde, UKRI Research Fellow at the University of Leeds inaugurated the society activities.
The Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Department of Civil Engineering, School of Infrastructure organized an one-day workshop on “DGPS, Drone and LIDAR: The Future of Surveying Technologies” on 10.10.2023 from 09.00 a.m. – 04.00 p.m. at Seminar Hall, Department of Civil Engineering for the benefit of II Year B.Tech Civil Engineering students.
The Department of Commerce organised Short term training program on Academic Research and Data Analysis (using SPSS & AMOS) on 9th October 2023 in Virtual mode. The training programme is designed to enhance the learning and research skills of the participants, to make them aware about modern analytical tools and methodologies. This programme also provides an opportunity to acquire knowledge about current technological development in relevant fields. More than 95 participants registered for the program from various places like Andra Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Bengaluru, Uttarpradesh, Telangana, Puduchery, Uttarkhand and Tamilnadu.
The Crescent Energy Club conducted an event for the Club named ‘ECOZEST’ on Friday (06-10-2023) in our university premises. Mr.Gautham, CEO, “Walk for Plastic” was the Chief Guest for the Event. The team (Walk for plastic) collects plastics from surroundings, recycle it and use that money for the Education of Poor children. Dr. Karthikeyan Ramalingam, Professor/ SLS Dean (Student Affairs) & Chief Proctor (Discipline), Dr C Tharini, Dean/SECS and Dr R Jayashree, HoD/EEE felicitated the event and honored the chief guest with a memento and shawl.

Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Professor & Dean, delivered the felicitation. Dr. J. Shahitha Parveen, AP, coordinated the event.

Mr. Sandeep Kumar Shukla, Lead Engineer, Materials Technology (Polymer), Mahindra Auto Division, Chennai, delivered a talk on “Changing Lanes: The Transformation of Transportation and the Automotive Industry”. Students participated interacted with the speaker and industrial experience regarding the current development, technologies of Mr. Sandeep Kumar Shukla, was shared among the attendees.
The Department of Commerce, in association with Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP), Chennai Chapter, conducted motivational guest lecture on 4th October 2023, from 10.30am to 12 pm in the convention centre. The resource person for this event was Mr Wali Rahmani, Lawyer, Social Entrepreneur and Founder Chairman of UMEED Academy, Kolkata. It was conducted for the students of Department of Commerce, Shift I. The session Convenor was Dr Ayub Khan Dawood, Professor and Dean, School of Social Sciences and Humanities and Co-convenor was Dr.K.Soundarapandiyan, Associate Professor, Head, Department of Commerce.
The session was commenced with the reception team welcoming the guests, compering/ emcee was done by Ms. Aishwarya, II BBA G and the session was graced with the Tilawat-eQuran(Quari) by Dr. Sibghatullah Nasir, Assistant Professor Sr Gr, Department of Commerce, followed by TamilThaiVazthu by final year B Com students. Nothing can be more reassuring and heart warming than affectionate words of welcome address, which was given by Dr. Ayub Khan Dawood Dean, School of Social Sciences and Humanities.

On September 27, 2023 the Battalion FW Taylor organized a series of management-oriented events to get a taste of corporate working as part of CSB Club activities. The club activities are the brain child of Dr. K Srinivasan, Dean, Crescent School of Business. The Battalion organized three HR Theme events.
The event ‘Knowledge Knockout’ was based on two rounds – 1st round was the written exam and the 2nd round was management quiz. The event ‘Best Manager’ was organized next. The event was based on three rounds. The first round consisted of a rigorous multiple-choice question (MCQ) test, the second round was ‘Block and Tackle’, and the third round was Stress interview. The event ‘Corporate Walk’ featured 7 teams in the first round which was based on different themes. Those who qualified in the first round moved forward to the second round which was based on questions to check the participants’ opinion on different management related aspects.
The management events organized by the Battalion FW Taylor proved to be a remarkable platform for participants to showcase their talents and abilities. The event’s success was attributed to the diligent coordinators and enthusiastic participants.
An event was organized on “Inauguration of Computer Applications Association and Computer Society of India” was held on 27 September 2023, scheduled from 10.00 am – 12.30 pm in the Convention Centre Auditorium. It was organized by the Department of Computer Applications and the School of Computer Information and Mathematical Sciences.
The event commenced with a Qirath by Mr.Noor Sheik Hameed I-Year MCA B Section. Dr.S.Pakkir Mohideen, Head of the Department, Department of Computer Applications cordially welcomed the gathering. Dr. M.Munir Ahamed Rabbani, Professor, Department of Computer Applications honoured the chief guest. Ms.Shibani II Year MCA B, presented the Annual Report. Mr.Ibrahim Abdul Samad. II-year MCA A Section has introduced the Chief Guest.
The inaugural address was delivered by the Chief Guest Dr.T.Ruso, Project Manager, CTS Chennai. He spoke about the applications of AI in modern society. Finally, the vote of thanks is conveyed by the coordinators.
B-Quiz competition was organized on 22nd September 2023 by the Department of Commerce, School of Social Sciences and Humanities. Around 90 students have actively participated in the competition.
Dr. Kogila. N, Assistant Professor gave a welcome address followed by Dr. K. Soundarapandiyan, Head, Department of Commerce, has given an inaugural address and highlighted the importance of the event and how it could be used in the competitive world. Third BBA General students Mr. Irshath Mohammed A, Mr. Ansh Pandey, and Mr. Imran Abdul Rahman hosted the entire event and Mr. Irshath Mohammed Aacted as a quiz master.
Significant events have significant beginnings. On September 20, 2023, a significant event took place at the Auditorium, bringing together students, faculty, and esteemed guests for a glittering inauguration ceremony. The Dean delivered an eloquent speech about the Chief Guest, Mr. Carnic Karthikeyan. The Dean’s words shed light on Mr. Karthikeyan’s remarkable achievements and contributions in various domains. Followed by Mr.Karthikeyan’s speech, his words left an indelible impression, infusing attendees with renewed determination. A brief introduction to the clubs was provided, giving attendees a glimpse into the diverse array of groups that had been formed. The clubs are, 1. HOPE – The HR Club 2. AVENUES – The Marketing Club 3. SEED – The Entrepreneurship Club 4. RAHOITTA – The Finance Club 5. DABBAWALA – The Operations & Logistics Club. These clubs reflect the wide range of interests and passions that the students can pursue. Students of MBA were shuffled and allotted under various Battalions to conduct the club activities. The Battalions were named after corporate gurus such as, 1. Battalion Kautilya 2. Battalion Schumpeter 3. Battalion Elton Mayo 4. Battalion Adam Smith 5. Battalion Henry Fayol 6. Battalion F.W. Taylor 7. Battalion Peter Drucker 8. Battalion Horacio Pagani. The President and Vice president of each Battalion were introduced and honored with badges. Product launch program was showcased by 4 teams of MBA and MBA IEV students. The Chief Guest honored the product launch teams from MBA and MBA IEV with a sapling for their effective launch of product and the way they narrated the same.

The Royal Charter Day was celebrated on 14.09.2023 at BSA Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. The event was organized by Department of Civil Engineering, School of Infrastructure, in association with The Institution of Engineers (INDIA), Kancheepuram Local Chapter at Seminar Hall, Department of Management Studies. The event was coordinated by Dr.Vasanthi Padmanabhan, Professor, and Dr. N. S. Shafeer Ahamed, Assistant Professor (Sel. Gr), Department of Civil Engineering. As a part of the celebration, a lecture was arranged on the topic, “Construction Insights (Buildings)” which was delivered by the guest speaker Mr.N.Kalyanaraman Chief Operating Officer, M/s. Navin Housing &Properties (P).Ltd. Chennai.
A two-days workshop on “Innovative Teaching Practices in Higher Education” has been organized by the Centre for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) of B.S.A Crescent Institute of Science & Technology on 13.9.2023 and 14.9.2023. Dr.P.Malliga, Head / Department of Educational Media and Technolgy, NITTTR and Dr.Edamana Prasad, Head / Teaching Learning Centre, IIT Madras acted as resource persons for the workshop.
The workshop trained the teachers of our Institute on Modern pedagogical teaching practices, use of media and technology, e-content development, creation of podcasts, taxonomy and levels of thinking, cognitive process dimension and effective teaching strategies.
The workshop was coordinated by Dr.G.Kavitha, Director Incharge / CITL and Mr.Emerson, Technical editor / CITL. The CITL has trained more than 50 teaching faculty members across all Departments of BSACIST. The workshop was interactive and sessions were informative to all the teachers on practicing modern teaching learning process for new generation of learners.
The workshop on “Engineering Design” was organized by the Society of Mechanical Engineers of the Department of Mechanical Engineering on 11th September 2023. Dr. A. Arockia Julias, Associate Professor and Mr. M. Balasrinivasan, Assistant Professor Sr. Gr. Conducted this workshop. Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Professor & Dean and Dr. A.S. Selvakumar, Professor & Head inaugurated the workshop.
The objective of the workshop is to provide hands on training to the faculty members handling the Engineering Design course for undergraduate students. Design thinking concept and the project assignments associated with that are introduced in the first session. Hands on Training on making paper prototypes, creating simple App using MIT App inventor and toy car design are covered in the workshop. About 15 faculty members from various departments actively participated in this workshop and get benefitted. Certificates were given to all the participants in the end of the day.
The Department of Commerce, School of Social Science and Humanities organized the career awareness program on the “Chartered Accountant Course” on 1st september 2023 in association with M/s.John Moris & Co,Chartered Accounatants,Chennai. More than 120 commerce first year students have participated in the program.
Dr.K.Soundarapandiyan, Head-Department of Commerce, who delivered the welcome address as well as introduced the chief guest for the program CA.A.Vijay Stephen,Partner, M/s.A.John Moris & Co, Chartered Accountants, Chennai and emphasized the demand of CA course in the current business world.
Our Dean Dr.D.Ayub Khan Dawood, School of Social Science and Humanities delivered the presidential address and also shared the glory of CA Course with its significance of the auditor report in the finance and governance as well.
The workshop on ‘’Computer Application in Civil Engineering’’ was conducted on 30th August 2023 at Civil Department computer laboratory, organized by Department of Civil Engineering in collaboration with CADD center, Tambaram. The event was coordinated by Mr. A. Sheik Farid, Assistant Professor (Sr. Gr), and Dr. K. Yogeswari, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering. 39 final year B.Tech. Civil Engg. students participated in the workshop.
